Thanks to Facebook, I now know that my life is 75% perfect. Now if you are a "glass is half full" kind of person, 75% would be great news. However, I swing between "half full" and "very empty".

Apparently I love my job. No surprises there. Could anything be cooler than being a positive influence on a couple’s birth experience, and giving reassurance and guidance to those who are new to this parenting gig.

The quiz has assured me that I have a very happy marriage too. Another no-brainer! My husband is hot, intelligent and wakes up with our 3 year old in the middle of the night. You could say I am pleased about that. Plus I get great perks like flowers regularly and the odd high ticket item gift!

My kids are great. I get alot of happiness out of theirs, and learn from the stuff I didn’t get right.

I guess the 25% that is my imperfect life, is probably having not found the right home for us in the inner city. It has been 6 months and we’re still on the pavement every weekend looking for that elusive city haven. It isn’t too much to ask is it? For a house with enough rooms for the two of us, our four kids, our manny and cat. Of course the home should also have a garage and nice big eat in kitchen, and preferably a large laundry… Too much to ask for in Paddington/Surry Hills/Alexandria/Glebe.

Guess there isn’t too much to whine about.

But then I realised just how sick she has been during this pregnancy. It has really taken a toll (and thankfully reminded me of how horrible pregnancy can be).

As alot of you know, Candice and I have both had very premature babies. Seeing Candice go through this pregnancy with the terrifying prospect of living through it all again, is very scary.

I am wishing very hard that Candice feels better soon. Please everyone send her sticky baby dust and positive vibes.

We love you Candy! And thanks for the cordial.

I love working with them. I love talking about them. I love feeling a babies foot kicking in its Mother’s belly, and moments later lying in her arms. I love the smell of a newborn’s head. I love hearing parents to be waiting excitedly for their baby.

My favourite thing in the world is to watch Mothers who said they would never be able to birth naturally after a caesarean, give birth to their babies on a birth stool with her partner wiping away the tears of disbelief and overwhelming love.

I am totally in awe of how our bodies create life, nurture it and nourish it from a bundle of cells to a pink bundle of joy.

So are you guys going to hold an intervention for me or something?

Sorry to the avid readers of my blog. Things have been… odd around here.

Frauline Lara was fantastic. She arrived and an instant weight was lifted from our shoulders. Pity she didn’t feel the same way about us. She left 6 weeks into her stay with us citing"unhappiness" as the reason. Turns out Frauline Lara prefers the finer things in life. And you can’t find those on the southern side of the harbour bridge.

And so Frauline Sybille found her way here. Let’s just say there are alot of low jeans and bad shaving rash happening there. Not to mention 6 weeks of kids being late to school, homework not being done, and a three year old boy locking himself in the car and threatening to drive it. That six week trial ends tomorrow, so will be taking the opportunity to have a chat with Frau Syb tonight.

I’m now homesvhooling my eldest daughter. She’s doing very well. Now I never thought myself a homeschooling fan. But it turns iut that within this conservative exterior beats the heart of a modern hippy. Sophie is still in her Montessori school and doing well. Aimee and Jack are also in their mainstream "institutions". So far they’re all happy.

I am working hard with my Mums to Be all over Sydney. I have two due right now and can’t wait for the phone to ring (please please not at 3am)

So Mumspacers, what’s been happening here?

It was especially helpful to have her here while I was stuck on the lounge for two weeks with a bad back. And while I was busy with three birth in a week. And when my daughter broke her arm (yes two children in casts now, hang on is that DOCS at the door?)

We’re still trialling Montessori with Miss Brainiac and it is going well.

Husband is very busy growing and selling corals, and saving the world’s reefs.

And I am branching out into bigger and better things with Sydney Bubs, as well as collaborating with some other amazing business Mums.

And for those who haven’t read my story in My Child this month, please have a look and pass me your feedback good or bad.

Last night was my sixth Overnight Sleep Rescue in 8 days. And well… I am more than a little fatigued. Yesterday I interviewd four Mothercraft Nurses who will hopefully be lightening my workload so that I can focus on my Postnatal Clients after their births. I cannot wait for that, as the nights are starting to really get to me. But as lots of you other business Mummys know, it is hard to let go of your way of doing things and accept somebody else’s.

Not sure what is going on with Sydney bubs, but most aren’t sleeping much at the moment. I hope that some of you are getting some sleep. And to those of you that aren’t. it does end. I promise!

Our Au Pair arrives in 8 days. That means that in 8 days from now:

I won’t have to worry about a client going into labour on a Monday or a Tuesday

I can go and get a loaf of bread and it won’t take 45 minutes to walk back to the car

I will not have to ask my kids to form a line to ask me dumb questions (they can ask someone else!!!)

I will have a spare pair of hands so that I can actually function and enjoy being a Mum without always feeling as though it is hard work with no reward

I will feel less guilty about hiding in the garage to talk to my clients on the phone, while my little ones are thinking we’re playing hide and seek

8 days until I am human again

Some of you might know that I have been working VERY hard of late. And today I threw caution to the wind (and my accountant into an early grave) and I went shopping I had several hours to kill whilst waiting to see doctors for my daughter’s broken wrist. So yes I dragged my fractured child around the shops and bought up a storm. Two trolley loads of homewares in fact.

I am a list girl. I carry lists with me everywhere. So I was lucky to have a room by room novella with my wishlist items. Prints for my bedroom, throws for the girls’ room, a Buzz Lightyear lamp for Mr Baby’s room. Well I accomplsihed all but two things - curtains and bedside lamps. Good thing I guess. However, Suzie Wilkes will be happy to know that I came $305 under budget.

Hmmm… I could do another room in under $305….

After a stressful week, and a very exhausting Monday night at work (a Doula’s work is never done!), I fell asleep at 7pm last night. Yes I did have to miss All Saints and I failed at my detox program by taking 4 overnight flu tablets. But I was oh so tuckered out, so I just went with it.

Anyhoo. I was a bad, neglectful Mummy last night. So bad infact, that I had no idea that my Sophie Pophie had a broken wrist!!!! She didn’t mention a thing about it until this morning…

I’m making my coffee at 6.30am, and I hear a wild animal in my living room. Turns out, the wild animal is Sophie holding a broken wrist. Bring the cynic that I am, it took 7 hours of doctors appointments, waiting rooms, xrays and $500 to prove that YES IT WAS BROKEN. So on went the plaster. Wa la! A happy, slightly broken Child with a crazy, slightly broken Mother.
