The tale of the flooded garage and the broken clothes dryer

If you live in Sydney, chances are that you were a prisoner in your home over the past few days. The torrent of rain was so severe that at one stage my daughter asked me if we should build an ark just in case!

The first casualty was our garage. It became a public pool with the water rising rapidly above our ankles. Jack had a whale of a time with his rainboots on. Poor old Dave ended up having to rough the elements to unblock the drain.

Sadly for him, his maintenance job was only beginiing. The clothes dryer decided to cut off its own life support in in order to avoid a few days of hard work. With five loads of washing a day in this house, I think it knew what it was up against with this weather. Dave mastered clothes dryer mechanics in all of about two hours, with help from a couple of fixit websites and my aggressive encouragement.

Seems to have cleared up today though! So no excuses about going to the shopping centre. And will have to clean up that "tent" in the kids loungeroom. 8 chair. 5 sheets. And every available pillow and cushion in the house. Will all have to go because we may have a photographer coming to the house today to do my press shots aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. Where’s the hair straightener and something decent to wear? Oh that is right. My clothes are still wet because we’ve had no dryer.
